Reform's Lee Anderson ... Obnoxious, Aggressive, Offensive ...
The former Labour / Tory MP already has a reputation in Westminster. Staff and employees won't take much more.
Lee Anderson, a ‘deeply unpleasant thug’ when in the Tory Party (as described by his own colleagues), seems to feel that now he represents Reform, anything goes.
There have already been multiple incidents regarding his behavior in recent weeks. The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards is said to have …
“… at least three, possibly up to seven, current cases regarding the conduct of this particular member of the House.”
These cases include verbal abuse, minor physical assault, aggressive manner, and belittling comments, against employees and staff at Westminster.
Some of these complaints were lodged and then withdrawn, and there have been suggestions - just suggestions, note - from many, that intimidation and threats of sacking have been used against complainants to silence them.
There is disquiet in the corridors and among people who work at Westminster, that his behaviour seems to be unchallenged. Old School Tories were often a little dismissive and rude to those that actually work for a living (newer ones, less so) but even veteran staff in the House and various cafes and bars try to steer clear of Anderson …
“No-one wants to serve him. No-one wants to have any contact with him. He thinks that his standing makes him everyone’s social superior and by God, he loves to let you know it, and not politely, either. He loves to sneer.”
But, we hear that might change soon.
A number of employees, growing quite quickly, have been collating incident data with a view to presenting an ultimatum to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards to take the matter seriously. There are even murmurs of Industrial Action over the matter, regarding not just Anderson but a dozen or so MPs who are …
“… routinely aggressive, drunk, racist or sneering, belittling to staff members. We’re reaching the point where we’ve all had enough of this thug, and a few others.”
Watch this space.
